JAPEP was established in Melbourne in 1987. Since then JAPEP has provided hundreds of Australian and NZ schools with unique opportunities to learn Japanese language and culture directly through outgoing native Japanes assistant teachers.

Dr Kuninori Shimbo, Director of JAPEP, has taught Japanse language at primary, secondary and tertiary schools in Australia. He has MA in Japanese Studies and PhD in Education. He is a NAATI accredited translator.
